Nike bring Flyknit technology to the timeless Air Jordan 1

1985 saw the release of the Tinker Hatfield designed Air Jordan 1, an on-court silhouette that rocked both the basketball and early streetwear spheres; pioneering the idea that a sneaker could sit in a Venn diagram between leisure and athleticism. 2012 saw a the introduction of Flyknit technology via Nike’s Flyknit Trainer, a catalyst for equal ripples in both worlds. We’ve seen Flyknit applied to a plethora of silhouettes, this month the Air Jordan 1 is up.

Sporting the unmistakeable banned Black & Varisty Red colourway, the AJ1 Flyknit stays true to it’s heritage. A fine knit Flyknit graces the both the toebox and mid section of the upper, whilst a newly introduced heavier knit sits at the heel, providing on-court support; whilst retaining the breathability and flexibility that Flyknit is renowned for. Premium leather has been applied to almost every other area of the sneaker that isn’t Flyknit. A striking Varsity Red swoosh sits on the upper, whilst a tonal Wings logo sits at the heel of the AJ1. Nike Air branding is applied to the tongue tab, that also sports a ‘1985’ graphic on the inside. The Air Jordan 1 Flyknit is finished with waxed laces, leather insoles and special ‘19852017’ laser engraving on the inside of the heel, nodding to historical moments in Air Jordan history

The Air Jordan 1 Flyknit ‘Black/Varsity Red’ is now available in-store and online. Sizes range from UK6 - UK12 (including half sizes), priced at £140.
